DİYARBAKIR - Şeyhdavut Başkan who was referred to another prisoner to be treated but wasn't treated, is on hunger strike for 57 days. Başkan stated that he will start a death fast if he is not treated.

Şeyhdavut Başkan who participated in the mass hunger strike of the prisoners in Kayseri Bünyan No 2 Prison for the termination of the isolation of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, was taken to another prison after the hunger strikes were called off for treatment. Başkan who reached out to Mesopotamia Agency (MA) via his family, is now on the 57th day of the hunger strike he started on June 9. Başkan stated that he will start a death fast if his demand is not met.

Father Şeyhmus Başkan who last contacted his son on September 2, said: "My son is %44 mentally challanged. He was transferred to Kayseri Bünyan No 1 Prison to be treated. However, while he is not being treated at all, all his social rights have been deprived. Every prisoner has rights according to the Turkish Constitution no matter what they did to be arrested. This is not humane. He is not being given newspapers or books, and neither his health checks are being done."

Father Başkan who stated that he spoke to Humans's Rights Association (İHD) and People's Democratic Party (HDP), said no one have spoken to his son despite all efforts. Başkan stated that if anything is to happen to his son, the government and the Ministry of Justice will be responsible.
