'We will take to the streets if measures are not taken for the prisoners'

DİYARBAKIR – Sultan Deyiş whose two children are in prison, stated that the sick prisoners must be released, Mazlum Teke's mother Nezahat Teke said they will take to the streets if necessarry measures are not taken.

 
The prisoners and convicts, whose number is around 300 thousand, are at great risk due to the rapidly spreading coronavirus epidemic. While some measures taken by the Ministry of Justice do not satisfy the families, it is stated that not enough measures are taken in prisons. Nezahat Teke, the mother of prisoner Mazlum Teke and Sultan Deyiş whose two sons and husband in prison, demanded the prisons to be evacuated immediately.
 
HER HUSBAND AND 2 SONS IN PRISON
 
3 members of the Deyiş family from Diyarbakır's Şırnak district is in prison. Father Nimet Deyiş (63) is in Maraş Türkoğlu Type L Prison for the last 28 years and he has many health issius. Her sons Ferihe Deyis iş is in Diyarbakır Type D Closed prison for 14 months while her other son Vedat Deyiş is in the same prison for 8 months. Sultan Deyiş whose husband and sons are in prison, is concerned about the coronavirus rapidly spreading and claiming people's lives.
 
'THERE ARE 603 PEOPLE IN PRISONS'
 
Stating that there are 603 people in the prison hher husband is being held, Deyiş said her husband shared the information that there are no measures taken against the novel coronavirus.
 
Deyiş who stated that the new law will lead to the release of rapers and the sick political prisoners will be left to die, said: "They must release the sick prisoners first. My two sons are in prison but the sick prisoners have the priority. Those who say 'stay at home' are filling the prisons with people."
 
'WE WILL TAKE TO THE STREETS IF NO MEASURES ARE TAKEN'
 
Nezahat Teke, whose son Mazlum Teke is being held at Diyarbakır Type D Closed Prison, said his son called her and said the were no disinfectants and that the police and the soldiers comes into their wards with no gloves and with their shoes with no protection. Nezahat Teke warned that the prisons will turn into a river of death if no precautions are taken and demanded the prisons to be evacuated immediately.  Teke said, as mothers, they will not be a mere pectator to the deaths of their children, said the mothers will take the streets if no measures are taken."
