VAN - Tahsin Aktaş , father of Engin Aktaş who lost both his hands and has not been released despite the medical report stating he can not sustain his life in prison, asked: "“One of the 2 people in the ward is in a wheelchair and the other is bedridden. How can these 3 people take care of each other?"

Despite the threat of coronavirus (Covid- 19), the condition of hundreds of prisoners who remain in prison are critical. Ergin Aktaş, who lost both his hands is not released from prison despite the Forensic Medicine Institude (ATK) report for the 5th time. As a result of 9 years spent in prison, Aktaş has Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and Tuberculosis (Tuberculosis) diseases. Aktaş, one of the thousands of the prisoners who are left out of the scope of the draft AKP brought to the Parliament, is still being held in Metris R Type Prison despite the epidemic risk.

'MY SON VOMITS BLOOD'

Saying that his son's condition is getting worse every day, Tahsin Aktaş stated that his son is vomiting blood constantly, and have complaints of high fever, sweating and weakness due to his illness. Noting that his son was unable to meet his basic needs, father Aktaş said: "While coronavirus spreads on a daily basis, it is worrying not to release the sick prisoners. My son does not have his two hands, he is a COPD and tuberculosis patient. Every day he spends between those walls, his situation gets more serious. He is vomitting blood. He said that he had vomited blood when he called the other day."

Pointing out that her son should stay in a clean and hygienic environment, Aktaş said: "My son cannot take care of himself in prison. The doctors says that someone must take care of him in a clean environment. I am calling on to the Ministry of Justice and all the related authorities. Release the sick prisoners!"
