DİYARBAKIR- HDP's Member of the Parliement from Batman, Feleknas Uca stated that all political prisoners, especially PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, should be released, pointing out that prisons are intended to be turned into mass graves.

'SEPARATION POLICY OF THE GOVERNMENT'

Emphasizing that the call of “evacuate prisons” have been made all around the world, but the AKP-MHP government is making a great effort to keep political prisoners stuck in prisons, Uca said, “This proposal is a regulation on the execution law that will be used by rapists and those who abuse violence against women. Human rights defenders, politicians, lawyers, journalists are in prison for their opinions in Turkey. However, in the first paragraph of Article 10 of the Constitution, it is stated that 'Everyone is equal before the law without discrimination based on language, religion, race, color, gender, political thought, philosophical belief, sect and similar reasons'. However, when we look at the law enforcement including 70-articles, which is discussed in the Parliement now, there is a contradiction to the principle of equality stated by the Constitution. The separation policy that the government has been carrying out for years shows itself once again with thi regulation of law."

'ÖCALAN AND ALL POLITICAL PRISONERS SHOULD BE RELEASED'

Uca also mentioned to the situation of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan as well as the thousands of political prisoners held in Turkish prisons. Uca's statements continued as follows, "The main reason why the political prisoners wanted to be excluded with the execution law regulation is that the government is against the democratic change upon these territories. The political prisoners are wanted to be excluded in order to eliminate the peace to arrive to this country, to deepen the lack of solution to the Kurdish question and to block the freedom of expression and speech. United Kingdom, Palestine and Afghanistan and many other countries, including Iran, where the death penalty still applies, released thousands of prisoners due to coronavirus pandemic. In Latin America, there are prison riots due to coronavirus as well. In such a process, if Turkey does not want to be on the news agenda with the rising prison riots, then the doors of the prisons should be opened."
