HDP's Koç: AKP drags the country into a spiral of violence

AĞRI - HDP MP Abdullah Koç defining the point reached in Turkey as a 'police state', said: "AKP is dragging the country into a spiral of violence with the law enforcement officers."

The attacks of police, gendermerie and watchmen against citizens increase on a daily basis. Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Ağrı MP Abdullah Koç stated that the police, gendermerie and watchmen violence have become a state policy.

Stating that the discourse of the law enforcement officers those who claim that they are the 'state' itself demonstrates the essence of the existing violence, said that those who torture people in uniforms reflects the true colours of the state. Koç said: "Unfortunately, judicial bodies does not take action against those who use violence on behalf of the state. We have seen it in Madımak when they burned down a hotel with people inside. We experience the violence of the law enforcement officers and the violations of rights in the eastern cities. These incidents are not investigated because them insulting anyone who gets in their way in scope of 'counter terrorism' is a fact. And those people continue their approach in the west when they are appointed to the west because this is what they were taught in in service trainings. Therefore this is the result of them being encouraged."

IMPUNTIY POLICY

Stating that the police violence is a crime of torture, Koç, who held the government responsible, said: "2 children were slaughtered in Diyadin in 2015. The trial still continues. No results have been obtained. We are face to face with a policy of impunity here. Turkey is in a spiral of violence and there are no traces of law remained. The judicial bodies are taking orders from the AKP government. The law enforcement officers who are backed by this power, do what they like. They get away with the torture they subject the people to. With this government and this structure, Turkey have become a torture chamber."
