Protests against detentions in many cities 2024-11-27 15:45:00 NEWS CENTRE - The detention of more than 200 people including journalists, politicians, lawyers, academics, poets and writers was protested in many cities. Amed (Diyarbakır), Şirnex (Şırnak), Dêrsim (Tunceli), Bedlîs (Bitlis), Riha (Urfa), Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Çanakkale and many other cities detained many people including journalists, politicians, human rights defenders, writers and poets in house raids yesterday. The detentions were protested in many cities today.   Human Rights Association (IHD), Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party), Labour Party (EMEP), Socialist Solidarity Platform (SODAP), Confederation of Revolutionary Trade Unions (DİSK) Basın-İş members and executives participated in the statements. In the statements emphasised that the detentions were unlawful and demanded the release of the detainees.
