NEWS CENTER - Evaluating Turkey's threats to attack Northern and Eastern Syria and stating that they took the statements seriously, SDF General Commander Mazlum Ebdi said: "We are in favor of solving all problems through dialogue, but if there is an attack, we will resist together with the people."

Mazlum Ebdi, General Commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), evaluated the latest developments in Northern and Eastern Syria to Ronahi TV.

In the speech of AKP President Tayyip Erdoğan at the group meeting of his party on June 1, Erdoğan stated that Turkey has completed the preparations for the attack, that it will target Manbij and Til Rıfat, and then head to other regions. Taking the threats seriously, Ebdi said: “For the last two years Erdogan has been trying to take advantage of the political deadlocks he has been experiencing in domestic politics by attacking the region. If Turkey convince the parties, it will attack. We have been preparing for this war and for our self-defense for a long time. After what happened in Serêkanî and Girê Spi, we are preparing for a resistance. The people will resist with us. It will be a fierce battle. I do not believe that Turkey will win. We are in favor of solving all problems through dialogue, but if there is an attack, we will resist.”

'ATTACKS WILL CAUSE MANY PROBLEMS'

Stating that there are refugees migrating from Shehba, Ebdi said: “Turkey says it's a security concern. However, when Turkey enters a place militarily, it does not leave. We saw this in Afrin. The people were displaced. Violations of rights happen every day. More than 300,000 migrants live in Manbij. 2 million people live in the areas that Turkey says it will attack, and half of them are refugees. People's peace in those regions will be disturbed and people will have to migrate. There are many camps in the regions. There are families of ISIS members in some of those camps. In such an attack, we may not be able to secure those camps. These attacks will bring along many problems not only in those regions, but also in the whole of Syria and the surrounding countries."

‘REFUGEE PROJECT IS A POLITICAL PROJECT’

Underlining that ISIS is one of the groups that will benefit most from these attacks and Ebdi said: “ISIS threat is not over yet. ISIS is preparing for new attacks. Places like Girê Spî and Serêkaniye are places where they receive education. Now, if there is an attack, ISIS will get more active. This attack provides great support to terrorism. The struggle of SDF and our other friends will be damaged in our fight against ISIS. If a large NATO force attacks, fighting against ISIS will be secondary for us. After all, with these attacks, ISIS will become stronger.”

'THEY WANT TO SET THE PEOPLES AGAINST EACH OTHER'

Referring to Erdogan's "one million refugees" project, Ebdi said: "This project has nothing to do with human rights. It's a political project which was prepared for a demographic change. Turkey wants to set the peoples against each other. The refugees Erdogan is talking about are not those who went to Turkey from the places he says will be resettled. People live in the areas he wants to settle with refugees.

Due to our duty towards our people, we will do our best to prevent this plan from being implemented until the end. We will continue our talks with our friends in this direction. If necessary, we will also intervene militarily. We have this power. No one should be a part of this provocation. If we want, we can prevent the implementation of this plan by using force. According to the information we have obtained, Erdogan did not receive international approval. Some organisation that has nothing to do with human rights  support this project. Some of them are in Kuwait, some in Palestine. These organisations should take a step back. It should not contribute to the project where there will be a demographic change."

‘EVERYONE SHOULD DEVELOP AN ATTITUDE TOWARDS TURKEY’

Ebdi said: "If there is no condemnation against Turkey, it will put its plans into practice" and continued his words as follows: "International powers should raise their voices against Turkey. Some agreements have been made before and we have done our part. Turkey should do its part. On June 8, there will be a meeting between the foreign ministers of Turkey and Russia. Russia stated that it will not allow these attacks. We have discussions with the United States on this issue. The United States are also against attacks. The United States should say this more loudly. We are in favor of solving problems through dialogue. It used to be like this. This is also the case for the invaded areas. We want our people to return to their homes. We are not in favor of a deadlock. There has been war for 10 years and this war has not been a solution to the problems. Everyone should choose the path of dialogue. Turkey is at the forefront of those who want war, and a stance must be taken against it. We are the ones who want a solution in Syria. Everyone should take a stand against those who want to deepen the war. We are in dialogue with everyone. We are in dialogue with everyone involved in Syria, the coalition, Russia. The role of the Syrian government is important here. The territory of the Syrian state is targeted. In the past, Turkey used to say that there is a group in their target, then they will leave those lands to the Syrian state, but this did not happen. Turkey does not leave the invaded lands, it takes the lands to itself. Everyone living in Syria should be against Turkish state and take a stand.”
