ANKARA - Stating that they will work from street to street, neighborhood to neighborhood throughout the summer and calling on the opposition regarding the Rojava operation, which is on the agenda of the government, HDP Organizing Commission Co-spokesperson Mahfuz Güleryüz said: "Oppose this invasion openly and boldly."

Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), after the 5th Ordinary Grand Congress, discussed its activities, policies and strategies in the new period, with its new administrative structure, on July 16-17. After the Women's Council and Party Council(PM) meetings, the first Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting was held on July 18. HDP, which is planning to be on the field with the party management and MPs all summer long, will work on the June 2023 elections policies and the struggle for the new period.

MYK member Mahfuz Güleryüz, who was re-elected as the Co-spokespeerson of the Organisation Commission after the congress, spoke to the Mesopotamia Agency (MA) about the new period policies, democracy alliance efforts and developments on the agenda.

Expressing that they have left behind an important congress, Güleryüz said: "Our congress was followed with interest by the Turkish public and we gave a strong message with the participation of tens of thousands. We will continue our struggle to democratise the Republic, which left its century behind with conference and congress resolutions in the new period. The Republic cannot continue in its current form. We believe that it should democratize. We have dealt with all the crisis in the century, one by one. In Turkey, it is necessary to reconsider its policies towards identities, beliefs and youth and to find solutions. We are approaching from a point of view that discusses the crisis and war in Turkey and produces solutions. We have policies to solve problems that have not been resolved for a century and have become chronic.”

'THE OPPOSITION MUST OPENLY OPPOSE THE INVASION'

Mentioning that AKP Chairperson Tayyip Erdoğan is trying to pave the way for new operations against Northern and Eastern Syria, Güleryüz said: “This is where all opposition and democracy forces in Turkey should be focused. Erdogan aims to intervene in Rojava in an effort to regenerate consent in society. Erdogan's AKP-MHP government has no place for crisis. The area that Erdoğan sees as the only crisis area and will use it is an attempt to intervene, attack and invade Rojava. Erdoğan sees it as a means of generating consent in society. The method of consolidating the masses is the invasion operation. It is necessary to see that the AKP-MHP has a plan for self-existence. All the dynamics of society should realize this. Especially the opposition parties should openly and boldly oppose this invasion, which is obvious as a self-sustaining project of the AKP-MHP. The AKP should be stopped from being the government again."

‘THE LAST EXAMPLE OF DENIAL OF KURDS IS ZAKHO MASSACRE'

Emphasizing that the last example of the denial of the Kurds is the massacre attack on Zakho's Perex village, Güleryüz concluded his words as follows: “It is a reflection of a century-old policy of denial. It is the policy to displace Kurds from our geography. It is a reflection of the denial policy of nation-state models in the Middle East. Therefore, it is a new crime against humanity committed by this mentality. And it is just like Roboski. Human conscience should never accept this and should take the clearest stance.”
