ANKARA - An investigation has been launched regarding HDP's statement "Recognize the Armenian Genocide" on April 24, 2021.

Due to the statement made by the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) on the anniversary of the April 24 Armenian Genocide in 2021, an investigation was launched by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against 11 members of the Central Executive Board (MYK) on the charge of "insulting Turkishness".

Claiming that the expression "Armenian Genocide" is "contrary to the national interests of the Turkish Nation" and "to humiliate the Turkish Nation before history and in the international community", the prosecutor's office seeks prison sentences of up to 2 years for HDP executives.
