14 months communication penalty for 14 slogans to prisoners in Dumlu

ERZURUM - The prisoners who protested the closing of the windows in the wards of the Dumlu High Security Prison No. 1 with metal wire mesh were given a 14-month communication sentence for 14 slogans they chanted.
 
The prisoners who protested that the windows in the wards of the High Security Prison No. 1 in Dumlu in Erzurum were closed with metal wire mesh were given a communication penalty. It was learned that while the 10-day definite-rotating hunger strike of the prisoners against the practice in the prison ended from November 8 to mid-December, all the windows of the wards were closed with wire mesh. In the prison, where the prisoners were put in a single cell and their communication with the outside world was cut off, the prisoners' daily protest slogans against this situation was returned as a disciplinary punishment.
 
ONE MONTH OF PENALTY FOR EVERY SLOGAN
 
Dumlu Prison Disciplinary Committee decided to punish the protests of the prisoners in accordance with Article 42 of the Law on the Execution of Penalties and Security Measures. 7 prisoners who protested the practices in the High Security Prison No. 1 were given a one-month disciplinary penalty for each slogan they shouted. The Board gave 14 months of phone and letter penalties for 14 slogans that were stated to have been thrown at 7 prisoners.
 
PRISONERS IN CELLS
 
Informing the lawyers, the prisoners pointed out that the isolation in the prison was getting deeper. Informing that all convicted/unconfirmed prisoners are held in solitary cells, the prisoners asked the public to be sensitive to this situation.
 
PRISONERS WILL APPEAL TO EXECUTION JUDGE
 
The prisoners, who have reacted to the sentences given to them, will appeal to the Execution Judge next week against the disciplinary punishment.
