MERSIN - 6 prisoners in Afyonkarahisar No. 1 Type T Closed Prison have been on hunger strike for 2 days against rights violations

In Afyonkarahisar No. 1 Type T Closed Prison, 6 prisoners started a hunger strike on January 3, against the raid on the wards and the imposition of a standing count. It was learned that the prisoners on hunger strike were Habil Emen, Yusuf Birkan, Yusuf Erkek, Mehmet Emin Dal, Siraç Keskin and Cumali Yıldırım. Cumali Yıldırım and Harun Paçal, who are among the prisoners, met with their families.

CALL OF FAMILY

In the video they took in front of the prison after the meeting, the families said: "Our children are subjected to torture inside. All the masses must take action to make our voices heard. Our children are in danger right now. Their lives are not safe. Other groups will also go on hunger strike. The prison administration had previously promised to meet their demands, but none of their demands were fulfilled."

RESUL WORRIED ABOUT HIS BROTHER

Prisoner Yusuf Birkan also spoke to his elder brother Resul Birkan over the phone on January 2. Brother Birkan said that his brother had only one kidney and therefore he was worried for his life. Brother Birkan said: “During the search, they distributed the furniture, tea and sugar in the ward. They dragged one of their hunger striker friends to the ground. 4 people started the strike as of January 2 and they said that it will continue to increase. When I said I was going to file a complaint with the Ministry of Justice, the guards said; 'Say hi for us too.'"
