GİRESUN - Some of the prisoners, who have been on hunger strike for 55 days in Giresun Espiye Type L Closed Prison, turned the protest into an indefinite and non-rotating hunger strike.

The hunger strike launched by prisoners against rights violations and pressure from the administration in Giresun Espiye Type L Closed Prison has entered its 55th day. Erdal Emeç, Aydın Oğuz and Ahmet Budak, who were on hunger strike, turned the protest into an indefinite and non-rotating hunger strike. Erdal Emeç, a ill prisoner who called his family, stated that they took their strike to the next level with the decision they took and said that the strike will continue until their demands are met.

Emeç also stated that they will be taken into solitary cells due to the strike they started as of today.

Prisoner Metin Uyar, who called his family again on the 40th day of the hunger strike, said: "The dignity, humanity and identity are being trampled underfoot with isolation. There is a fascist orientation in Espiye Prison. They directly attack our Kurdish identity here. There are physical and psychological torture. They do not take our friends to the hospital, the Kurdish books are not given to them. Our wards have been raided for the last few days, our friends are taken away in handcuffs. A few of our friends were beaten and they received a report. Here we have ill friends who are on the verge of death."
