8 persons detained in protest in Istanbul

İSTANBUL - 8 people, including People's House MP Chairperson Zeynep Çelik, who protested the decision to remove tents and containers set up in solidarity with earthquake victims in Sevgi Park, were beaten and detained.
 
People's Houses Istanbul Branch wanted to make a press statement in front of the branch building regarding the removal of tents and containers set up to serve earthquake victims, especially women, by the governor's office in Sevgi Park in Defne District of Hatay. People's Houses MP Chairperson Zeynep Çelik and dozens of Community Center members, who were blocked by the police while leaving the building, reacted by saying, "This is not an earthquake, this is a massacre."
 
8 PEOPLE WERE DETAINED
 
After the slogans, People's Houses MP Chairperson Zeynep Çelik and Tuana Uguz, Faruk Yıldırım, Umut Yıldız, Hasan Gencer, Ergin Cavik, İbrahim Gül and Alişan Dil were beaten and detained by the police. The police also battered journalists who took pictures during their detention.
