HATAY - People of Kırıkhan, who are struggling to survive outside with the fear of earthquakes, stated that they cannot reach drinking water.

There is a water shortage in the tents set up by earthquake victims in the Gündüz Mahallesi of Kırıkhan district of Hatay. Citizens staying in tents on Iskenderun Street because their houses are heavily damaged, react to the explanations and demand that drinking water be supplied.

'THERE IS NO AFAD, NO WATER'

A woman named Sevim Hasan, who said that their house was destroyed and took the water brought by the volunteers, said: "We stay in tents. But we can't get help. Our biggest need is water. There is a toxic substance in the water, they say don't drink it. It causes disease. When the public drinks tap water, they will get cancer. There is no AFAD to help us."

TENT PROBLEM

Stating that they lived in fear of tremors, Kudret Karahalhaslı said: "I had to live in my house because a tent was not given to me. There was an earthquake last year, we stayed outside because there were no tents and we would be sick. We applied to the headman to bring us a tent. The headman said to us, 'there is no tent.' We don't live at night to escape children from the house when an earthquake happens. We need water as well as tents. We do not have drinking water. We need drinking water."
