Arrest in Cizîr, detention in Bedlis

ŞIRNAK/ BİTLİS - While 15 of the 18 people detained in Cizîr were arrested on the grounds of "anonymous witness", 2 people were detained in Bedlis.
 
Eighteen people, including Democratic Regions Party (DBP) executives, were detained during house raids in the Cudi and Nur neighborhoods of şirnex(Şırnak)'s Cizîr (Cizre) district on June 9. After 4 days of detention, 18 people were transferred to Şırnak Courthouse. While 2 of the 18 people whose statements were taken at the prosecutor's office were released, one person was referred to the Criminal Judgeship of Peace with a request for judicial control and 15 people with a request for arrest.
 
The judgeship decided to arrest 15 people, including DBP Cizîr District Manager Remzi Dadak, on the grounds of "anonymous witness" statements. 15 people were transferred to Şırnak Type T Closed Prison. One person was released on condition of judicial control.
 
BEDLIS
 
Many houses were raided in Bedlîs early in the morning. Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Bêdlis Provincial Co-chair Berivan Birlik and Greens and Left Future Party (Green Left Party) Bêdlis Provincial Director Mahmut Arukbağ were detained in the raids.
 
The reason for the detention of Birlik and Arukbağ could not be learned.
