BURSA - Ignoring detention, blockade and bad weather conditions, Freedom Marchers reached Gemlik and demanded the physical freedom of Abdullah Öcalan.

The "Freedom March", which started yesterday in Gemlik district of Bursa with the demands to ensure the physical freedom of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who has not been heard from in İmralı Type F High Security Prison for 32 months, and to solve the Kurdish issue through democratic means, continued today. Citizens who set out from many cities of Kurdistan and Turkey yesterday and today reached Gemlik despite detention, police blockade and bad weather conditions.

15 PEOPLE WERE DETAINED

Today, vehicles set off from 39 districts of Istanbul. Many vehicles departed from Kocaeli and Bursa to Gemlik. The police, who blockaded Bursa and its districts, stopped most of the vehicles at the entrance of Gemlik. Despite the blockade, many citizens managed to reach Gemlik.

Citizens who were not allowed to enter Gemlik protested the situation for a long time with halay dances and slogans. Slogans such as "Salue, Salue, a thousand salutes to Imrali(Abdullah Öcalan)", "Bê Serok jiyan nabe(There is no life without leader Abdullah Öcalan)" and "No to isolation" were frequently shouted during the protests.

HATİMOĞULLARI CALLED FROM GEMLIK

At a point close to Gemlik, many people, including HDK Co-Spokesperson Cengiz Çiçek, HEDEP Co-Chairperson Tülay Hatimoğulları and DBP Co-Chairperson Keskin Bayındır, came together in Gemlik. HEDEP Co-Chairperson Tülay Hatimoğulları, in her statement here, emphasized that PKK Leader Öcalan's physical freedom must be ensured for the solution of the Kurdish issue.
