RIHA - Stating that they started a hunger strike to support the struggle to ensure the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan, Prisoners in Urfa No. 2 Prison said: "We are the hope, we are the power, no matter how brutal the oppression is, we are the masters of our hearts and souls."

The rotating hunger strike that the prisoners in Kurdistan and Turkey prisons started on November 27 within the scope of the "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, solution to the Kurdish issue" campaign continues on its 30th day. Prisoners in the Urfa No. 2 Closed Prison sent letters to their families about their actions. Stating that a historical turning point has been passed, the prisoners said: "The system of oppression established through the genocide of peoples has passed 100 years. While many people had the opportunity to be freed from the empire that collapsed 100 years ago, some were sacrificed and subjected to genocide."

'KURDISTAN HAS BEEN MADE A PARADISE OF THE PEOPLE'

Reminding that Hasan Hayri, who betrayed Koçgîrî in return for his membership in parliament, was executed because he went to the Parliament in his traditional clothes, the prisoners stated that resistances such as Şeyh Sait, Xoybûn and Dersim, who realized the genocide and developed a reflex against it, unfortunately could not change the course of history in this direction.

Stating that Öcalan and his friends said "stop" to this system of oppression, the prisoners said: "We formed a front for freedom for the people. This means that Kurdishness, which was ashamed of itself, has now turned into a torch with its head held high and roaring loudly, and has become a source of pride. Leader Apo created a fountain of enlightenment for Kurdish women, youth and all peoples so that there would be no more deaths and massacres. He created the conditions to turn Kurdistan, which had been turned into a people's graveyard, into a people's paradise again. First of all, it should be known that if we, the youth, women, the people and all humanity, have still not been able to remove the leader of the age from this genocide system, it is a source of shame for us. As your comrades in prison, we started a hunger strike to get rid of this shame and support the struggle to ensure the freedom of our people and our leader. In this sense, we call on all our people to expand the struggle, spread our voice in every field, and turn all streets and cities into areas of resistance. We are the hope, we are the strength, no matter how brutal the oppression, we are the masters of our hearts and souls."
