AGIRÎ - It was stated that the health condition of ill prisoner Mehmet Ali Ugur, held in Patnos Type L Closed Prison, has deteriorated.

The health condition of ill prisoner Mehmet Ali Ugur is deteriorating. Ugur was arrested in Şirnex (Şırnak) in 2007 and sentenced to life imprisonment in the case where he was tried on the charge of "disrupt the unity and territorial integrity of the state". Ugur, who is on the list of ill prisoners of the Human Rights Association (IHD), has osteoporosis and celiac disease.

UGUR MUST BE RELEASED

Dersim Erisen, a member of the Wan Branch of the Association of Lawyers for Freedom (OHD), who met with Ugur, who is held in Patnos Type L Closed Prison, said that Ugur's health condition is deteriorating. Lawyer Erisen said: "Ugur is a celiac and osteoporosis patient. His condition is getting worse. The bread consumed by celiac patients is not available in the prison canteen. The prison does not fulfil its responsibility in this regard. When Ugur consumes normal white bread, the crisis passes and his condition worsens. He is constantly brought to Wan from Patnos. His family's application to be transferred to Şırnak province was also rejected. Ugur must be released immediately."

Ugur's mother, Gulistan Demir, said: "I want my son to be released as soon as possible. Bread belonging to celiac patients is not available in the prison. My son is not in a position to survive on his own."
