MERSİN - Speaking at the "End the isolation" protest in Mersin, DEM Party member Ali Bozan said, "We will continue our struggle until the aggravated isolation on Mr. Abdullah Öcalan is end."

The protest initiated by the relatives of prisoners in Mersin with the slogan "End the isolation" has entered its 7th week. A "End the isolation" banner was opened at the action attended by prisoners' relatives and People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) deputies Ali Bozan and Perihan Koca. Participants in the action wore aprons saying "Isolation is a crime against humanity" in Turkish and Kurdish. The crowd, who was prevented by the police from marching to the AKP provincial building, started a sit-in protest with the slogans "Bijî berxwedana zindanan (Long live resistance of dungeons)" and "Political prisoners are our honor".

'OUR ACTIONS WILL CONTINUE UNTIL THE ISOLATION END'

DEM Party Mersin Provincial Co-Chair Bedriye Kuş stated that they appealed to the government again in the 7th week of their protests and said: “The lawlessness and isolation in prisons must end as soon as possible. We will continue these actions until the rights violations and isolation in prisons end."

'WE WILL FIGHT'

Referring to the "detente" and "normalization" debates after the March 31 local elections, Bozan said: "At this stage, we see that both detente and normalization are stories. Under the name of detente and normalization, attempts are being made to make fascism commonplace in this country. But we will not allow this. We will continue our struggle until the aggravated isolation on Mr. Abdullah Öcalan is end."

The sit-in protest ended with kilams (songs) and slogans.
