Imam releases after testimony in Narin Güran investigation

AMED - The village imam who testified in the investigation of 8-year-old Narin Güran, whose body was found 19 days after her disappearance, was released. 

The village imam who was detained in the investigation of Narin Güran, whose body was found 19 days after her disappearance in Culî rural neighborhood of Rezan (Bağlar) district of Amed (Diyarbakır), was released. The imam was released after his statement procedures at the police station. 
 
Following the arrest of murder suspect Salim Güran, 24 people, including Güran's mother Yüksel and father Arif Güran, were detained in the Güran investigation. Nevzat Bahtiyar, who had made a contradictory statement in his custody testimony that Güran's uncle Salim Güran had delivered the body to him in a sack, but that he himself had put the body in the sack at Salim Güran's house, was arrested. 
 
With the release of the village imam and Bahtiyar's arrest, the number of detainees was reduced to 22. 
 
Making a statement on the issue, the Ministry of Justice said: “The statement-taking procedures of the suspects in custody within the scope of the investigation into the death of Narin Güran, which is being carried out by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, continue. The suspects are expected to be referred to the courthouse tomorrow.”
