ANKARA - DEM Party deputy Meral Danış Beştaş visited Emine Şenyaşar, who is continuing her protest in Parliament, and said: “The biggest discredit is injustice. Reputation is ensured by justice and law.”

Emine Şenyaşar, whose husband and two sons were massacred and one son was arrested on June 14, 2018 in Pirsûs (Suruç) district of Riha (Urfa) in an attack by the bodyguards and relatives of former AKP deputy İbrahim Halil Yıldız, is on the 21st day of the Justice Watch she brought to the Parliament.

Describing the massacre and its aftermath, Emine Şenyaşar reiterated her demand for justice. Şenyaşar also renewed her call for the release of her son Fadıl Şenyaşar, who is currently in prison.

Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) deputies Meral Danış Beştaş and Dilan Ayan Kunt paid a solidarity visit to Şenyaşar.

REACTION SHOWED

Beştaş stated that the Parliament deliberately kept silent against Şenyaşar's request. Drawing attention to Şenyaşar's request for a meeting with the Speaker of the Parliament and Erdoğan, Beştaş reacted against the rejection of this request. Drawing attention to the protests that mother Şenyaşar has been carrying out for years, “It is a very meaningful resistance. If the parliament is not the interlocutor of this, what will it be the interlocutor of? What does the parliament do?” she asked and reacted.

WHAT IS REPUTATION?

Beştaş reminded Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş's statement that “The reputation of the Parliament is being damaged” and said: “The biggest discredit is injustice. The greatest discredit is oppression. The greatest discredit is the instrumentalization of the judiciary. The biggest discredit is not punishing the perpetrators of the massacred people. Reputation is achieved through justice and law. It is achieved by respecting the will of the people. It is not achieved with flashy cars and gold leaf. Mother showed her reputation to Turkey and the world with her struggle. Reputation is the struggle, the pursuit of justice.”
