RIHA/ÊLIH - During the march against the usurpation of will in Xelfetî, “You will lose” message gave to the municipality trustee. In Êlih KESK stated that resistance of the people will win.
The resistance against the trustee appointed to the municipality in Xelfetî (Halfeti) district of Riha (Urfa) continued on its 13th day. A statement was made in front of the municipality building. Xelfetî Co-Mayor Mehmet Karayılan, who was replaced by a trustee, called for strong participation in the “Democracy and Freedom” rally to be held tomorrow in Êlih (Batman). Karayılan said: “Greetings to those who have condemned this coup in their conscience and to all citizens who have visited this place until today. This trustee is a coup against those who want democracy in Turkey, who want a common life, who want to brighten the future of the country.”
“We call out to those who have mortgaged our will; You will lose, you will lose, you will lose,” DEM Party Defne District Co-Chair Bülent Köreği said.
The crowd then marched to the DEM Party building. Citizens in the neighborhood supported the mass with applause. Speaking at the march, Xelfetî Co-Mayor Saniye Bayram said: “We are elected, you are appointed.”
Throughout the march, people reacted to the trustee with applause, chants and slogans.
ÊLIH
The Confederation of Public Laborer's Union (KESK) Women's Assembly protested the appointment of trustees to municipalities with a statement at Yılmaz Güney Park in Êlih (Batman). “Hands off the will of the people” banner was unfurled and the slogans ‘Jin, jiyan, azadî (Women, life, freedom)’, ‘Trustees will go, peoples will come’ were chanted.
'RESISTANCE WILL WIN'
KESK Co-Chair Ayfer Koçak said: “Trusteeship is a usurpation of will. Removing the people's elected officials from office and occupying their seats is disrespectful to the will of the people. This resistance will win. The thieves will lose. The trustee has put his hand in the pockets of the people. The trustee is an enemy of laborers. Trustees' previous practices are obvious. The trustee is the enemy of women. We have seen their attacks on women's gains. We will continue to stand with the people against the trustee.”
Saying that those who say “respect the ballot box” do not accept the will of the Kurdish people, KESK Women's Secretary Döne Gevher said: “The struggle of the people of the city resisting against fascism gives hope to the people. The trustee is attacking women's gains. One of the underlying causes of violence against women is these trustee appointments. The attack on women's achievements increases male violence.”
