NEWS CENTER - Abdullah Öcalan and İmralı prisoners Ömer Hayri Konar, Hamili Yıldırım and Veysi Aktaş met with their relatives on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.

Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and prisoners Ömer Hayri Konar, Hamili Yıldırım and Veysi Aktaş held in İmralı Type F High Security Closed Prison met with their relatives today as part of the Eid al-Fitr holiday. It is learned that Abdulah Öcalan's nephew Ömer Öcalan and his brother Mehmet Öcalan, Konar's brother Ali Konar, Yıldırım's brother Polat Yıldırım and Aktaş's sister Sabiha Aslan went to the meeting.

FAMILY AND LAWYER VISITS PREVENTED

Abdullah Öcalan's family visits have been prevented for many years. Since 2014, Öcalan has been able to meet with his family only 7 times in İmralı. The previous meeting was held on October 23, 2024 after 44 months of absolute incommunication. On that date, Öcalan met with his nephew and Peoples' Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party Riha (Urfa) MP Ömer Öcalan as part of a family visit.

Yıldırım, Konar and Aktaş were also not allowed family visits. Konar and Aktaş have had only 4 family visits (including today's meeting) since they were taken to İmralı in March 2015. Yıldırım, on the other hand, has had only 3 family visits.

Lawyer visits to İmralı have also been prevented for many years. Abdullah Öcalan has seen his lawyer only 5 times in 14 years. The last lawyer visit took place on August 7, 2019.

Yıldırım, Konar and Aktaş, on the other hand, have not been able to meet with a single lawyer since they were taken to İmralı.

4-MONTH REPORT BY ASRIN LAW OFFICE

Asrın Law Office released a 4-month report on March 28. It was stated that 52 family and lawyer visit applications for Abdullah Öcalan and 3 prisoners in İmralı Prison were left unanswered. The appeal to the CPT requested an “urgent” visit to the prison.

CALL FOR PEACE AND DEMOCRATIC SOCIETY

The DEM Party İmralı Delegation went to İmralı 3 times on December 28, 2024, January 22 and February 27 as part of the democratic and peaceful solution of the Kurdish issue. Abdullah Öcalan made a “Call for Peace and Democratic Society” with the delegation and his fellow prisoners during the 3rd meeting.
