NEWS CENTER - May Day celebrated in Shengal and Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan's words "Labour is freedom" were reminded.
Shengal People's Municipality and Shengal Autonomous Administration celebrated 1 May Worker's Day in Xanesor town of Shengal. Speaking at the celebration, Elmas Nayif, Co-mayor Siba Sheikh Khidir Municipality, said, "Workers spend most of their lives working and wishing a stable and peaceful world. Therefore, it is workers and labourers who should stand up against war, conflicts, oppression and injustice. The same system weakens society, collapses the economy and makes the population even more dependent on itself. In this way, it builds its system on the enslavement of workers."
'LABOUR IS FREEDOM'
Elmas Nayîf said, "As the Yazidi people, we have lived on our own labour for thousands of years without needing anyone. We live by working in solidarity. Nowadays, we are struggling economically, conscientiously and morally. On this occasion, we consider the day of struggle and resistance as our own day."
Elmas Nayîf reminded Abdullah Öcalan's words "Labour is freedom" and stressed: "We see Leader Apo's call for 'Peace and Democratic Society' as a chance for workers we are working for this process. Wrokers must save the world from this oppression. We celebrate May Day of all workers in Shengal and the world."
The statement ended with dances.
