ANKARA - Mustafa Bilici, a member of the Future Party's parliamentary commission, said: "If you are conducting a process, you need to meet with the interlocutor," in response to calls for the commission to meet with Abdullah Ocalan.
Future Party Izmir MP Mustafa Bilici, who is a member of the National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission, said it was important for the commission to listen to different segments. Bilici stated that the duty of the commission is to listen to the pain of both sides and said that they expect the names to be heard in the commission to be completed by 15 September.
Stating that the government has some priorities in the commission's work, Bilici said that it should be clarified what kind of criminal law the names participating in the disarmament ceremony will face and added, "An execution arrangement only for those who come down from the mountain will not be enough. Steps towards democratisation must be taken."
PRIORITY STEPS TO BE TAKEN
Stating that it would not be right to place the responsibility of the centuries-old Kurdish issue on the commission, Bilici emphasised that there are issues that require priority solutions. Bilici reminded that regulations on the Decree Laws (KHK) should be made and the decisions of the Constitutional Court and the ECtHR should be implemented.
'YOU NEED TO MEET WITH THE INTERLOCUTOR'
Commenting on the calls for talks with Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, Bilici reminded MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's statements about Öcalan as "the founding leader of the organisation". Bilici said, "Therefore, since Abdullah Öcalan was the founding leader of the PKK, it was with his call that the PKK ended its activities. Abdullah Öcalan is the one who made this happen. As for your question about the commission's meeting, no such issue has been raised or discussed by the members of the commission so far. But the state and state institutions are meeting. If you are running a process, you need to meet with the interlocutor and they will meet."
Stating that every segment living in Turkey should be given their rights, Bilici said that this would contribute to the country. Emphasising that politicians should pay attention to their discourse, Bilici added: "A wrong statement by politicians can lead people to feelings of hatred. I remember the solution process in 2013-2015 well, but I am aware that a stronger will has been put forward this time."
