ŞIRNEX - Ecologist Cemile Kaçar, who participated in the protests against the destruction of nature in Besta after Ida, said: "We will free nature together."
The protests against the destruction of nature in Şirnex (Şırnak) on 9-10 September brought together many ecologists. After a march in the city centre, nature defenders held a one-day vigil in the Besta Region. Cemile Kaçar, a member of the Climate Justice Coalition, who also took part in the protests against the massacre of trees in Mount Ida, joined the vigil in Şirnex against the destruction of nature.
'TOGETHER WE CAN PREVENT ECO-POLLUTION'
Cemile Kaçar pointed to the destruction of the Ida Mountains by Cengiz Holding's companies and said: "There was a massacre of trees in a very large area. We were in Mount Ida all winter, supporting the solidarity there, and today we are in Besta. The tree massacre in this region is the same as in Mount Ida, maybe even bigger. I see that we are facing a massacre."
Cemile Kaçar pointed out that the ecological destruction in Kurdistan and Turkey are not independent from each other and said: "All of these are an ecocide. We also experienced this in Akbelen last summer. There was a great massacre of trees in Akbelen. Unfortunately, we could not save the trees in Akbelen. The same is happening here. Together, we can prevent these with the resistance of the peoples."
Cemile Kaçar underlined that there is no option other than joint struggle against ecological destruction: "This massacre can only be stopped with the solidarity and struggle of the peoples together. Because this massacre is a massacre on a large scale. We can only stop this massacre on a large scale by standing together in solidarity. From the Ida Mountains to Besta, we will liberate nature together. From now on, we will always continue to be in solidarity with the nature of Şırnak."
