URFA - Hacı Esvet and his sons Adil and Celal Şenyaşar, who were murdered by the bodyguards and relatives of AKP MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız in Suruç, were commemorated for the first time in 4 years at the cemetery.

Hacı Esvet and his sons Celal and Adil Şenyaşar, who lost their lives in the massacre committed against the Şenyaşar family on June 14, 2018 by the bodyguards and relatives of AKP Urfa MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız, were commemorated at the cemetery. The crowd gathered in front of the cemetery for the commemoration was wanted to be prevented by the police from entering the cemetery. The police, who took the family and the MPs to the cemetery, did not allow other citizens to enter the cemetery. Family, MPs and members of non-governmental organisations condemned the attitude of the police. After Emine Şenyaşar stated that she would not visit the cemetery if the crowd was not allowed in, and that she would sit at the door until the crowd was allowed, the crowd, which was kept at the enterance of the cemetery for 30 minutes, was allowed in. A mass march took place from the cemetery entrance to the graves of the murdered family members. Emine Şenyaşar lamented for her murdered family members. The crowd gathered at the graveside and prayed for those who lost their lives.

WE WILL GRIEVE WHEN WE GET JUSTICE

At the commemoration, Ferit Şenyaşar spoke on behalf of the Şenyaşar family about the massacre they were subjected to and the struggle for justice they have been continuing for 4 years. Şenyaşar said: “These three people were buried in the midst of tear gas. They are not forgotten. Nothing is being done because an AKP MP is involved. Millions support our cause, especially the people of Suruç. We have not grievied for the last 4 years. We will grieve  when we get justice. Justice should be done as soon as possible.”

AYDENİZ: JUSTICE IS UNDER THE GROUND

Pointing out that the massacre took place before the eyes of the public, DBP Co-Chair Saliha Aydeniz said: “A massacre was committed before the eyes of the world. 4 years passed, but justice was not served. The fact that no steps have been taken for 4 years shows that there is no justice. There was a massacre in a state hospital. Mother Emine Şenyaşar wants justice for everyone and shows a resistance. She is resisting for everyone in Turkey. Justice is under the ground. We have to dig it out. We promise that we will be with the family until the end. Democracy cannot come without justice for the Şenyaşar family. Everyone knows about this massacre. We will seek justice until justice is served.”

Speaking on behalf of the Urfa Labor and Democracy Platform, Health and Social Service Workers Union (SES) Urfa Branch Co-Chair Salih Karataş stated that they are with the family and invited everyone to the Justice Watch that they will hold in front of the Urfa Courthouse.

The commemoration ended with carnations left in the cemetery.
